As the Communications Manager and Lead Digital Strategist at Balsera Communications, Sonia leads U.S. Hispanic, public affairs and advocacy communications strategies and campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and grassroots organizations. During her time at Balsera, she has helped the agency gain nationwide recognition through award-winning efforts that include PRWeek’s 2014 Multicultural Campaign of the Year and the 2014 HPRA Award for Best Media Event.

Prior to joining Balsera Communications in 2011, Sonia worked at Burson-Marsteller Miami and Edelman Austin supporting clients in a broad variety of industries, including corporate communications, technology, multicultural and travel and tourism.

Sonia is currently the President of the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) Miami chapter and serves on its national board. Additionally she is on the advisory board for the Communication Arts department at Florida International University (FIU). Sonia has a BA in Modern Languages with a Minor in Mass Communications from Texas State University and is fully bilingual in Spanish/English.
