Sandra Smester is executive vice president of Programming for the Univision Network at Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America. Ms. Smester is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day scheduling and strategic positioning of all on-air content for the Network.


Ms. Smester first joined UCI as a promotions intern in 1996 demonstrating a unique understanding of Hispanic audiences and the ability to engage them with high quality, culturally relevant content. Her immersive approach to content and production has been instrumental in Univision’s growth. Ms. Smester is highly regarded in the industry for her understanding of Spanish-language content and U.S. Hispanic audiences, which has helped cement the Network’s leadership position. Today, she oversees the entire programming block of the Univision Network, one of the top five networks in the U.S. regardless of language, regularly attracting more audiences than its peer English language networks.


Over the years, Ms. Smester has produced award-winning specials for the Network, including the New Year’s Eve Specials, El Grito de Mexico, La Virgen de Guadalupe, the Rose Parade, and Premios TVyNovelas. She was recognized by People en Español magazine on the list of “Mas Poderosas 2013” (Most Powerful 2013).


Ms. Smester earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Florida International University.
