Marilu Duque is 17 year old high school senior, and she is devoted to STEM. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards including the National Runner-Up NCWIT Aspriations in computing award, 2014-2015 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year for the state of Florida, and she even received an Ann Power grant to start her own STEM and Business program in her community. In addition, she has been accepted to various tech programs such as Stanford’s She++ summit in California, a premier summit for which a handful of students are selected to meet and learn from some of the top female minds in the technology field. Marilu owns ‘StemLatina.com’, where she helps other students find scholarships and other resource to excel in their chosen field. She has a wide knowledge of coding languages like Python, Java and various mark-up languages. Marilu’s dream is to inspire young girls to pursue STEM fields with this she is creating ‘STEM Vixens’, an outreach program for underprivileged girls and their families in her community. STEM is the future, and Marilu is currently making sure that she is there for it.
