Dr. Daniel King

Dr. Daniel King has been involved in the turnaround of the Pharr San Juan Alamo Independent School District since 2007. When he first arrived at PSJA ISD the school district was only graduating 65% of their students and had only 4% of students enrolled in college courses. In 2014 PSJA graduated 90% of their students and 60% of its students were enrolled in college courses.

For the last eight years Dr. King has made an impact in the Pharr San Juan Alamo community by challenging and engaging its parents and students to strive for a better life by initiation of a dropout recovery campus in the College Career and Technology Academy (CCTA) as well as the scaling of an Early College High School system district-wide where every child has the opportunity to receive a college education before they leave high school. If that wasn't enough, since 2013 Dr. King has implemented a Parental Engagement Program, which encourages parents to receive an education in ESL, GED, Computer Skills, Entrepreneurship, Community Service, certifications and employability in the areas of Welding and Security Officer. Dr. King welcomes other school districts around Texas, the U.S. and other countries to visit and draw ideas from the practices PSJA has implemented in the areas of student dropout recovery, early college high school model, parental engagement, dual language program, and early childhood program.
