Knight Chair in Investigative Reporting
Brant Houston is the Knight Chair in Investigative Reporting at the University of Illinois. He is the author of four editions of the “Computer-Assisted Reporting: A Practical Guide” and co-author of two editions of “The Investigative Reporter’s Handbook.” He was executive director of Investigative Reporters and Editors for a more than decade and an award-winning reporter for 17 years before joining IRE. He has done training in investigative and computer-assisted reporting in 20 countries. He currently works with many nonprofit newsrooms and is co-founder of the Global Investigative Journalism Network. He also oversees an online investigative and community news organization, CU-CitizenAccess.org, that has won awards for its reporting on justice and economic issues.
