Mercedes Soler anchors a daily current events debate format program on CNNE. The show analyses the news, and general issues from politics to gay rights or health scares and some entertainment. Ms. Soler not only writes and coproduces the content of her show, but she also tries to deliver perspective as she puts diverse issues into context. Thus, the name of her show: Realidades en Contexto. Alongside this, Ms. Soler engages her audience on a constant basis through social medial, which she expertly incorporates in her daily program with audience participation.
Previously, and for three full years, Ms. Soler also anchored, wrote and coproduced the content for NotiMujer. That daily live one hour show also built on her strengths as an interviewer and her compromise with gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Before signing with CNNE, Ms. Soler co authored a book focused on women´s issues based on her own stories and the lives and experiences of her co’authors. The content of her book was eventually made into a theater musical, and helped develop camps and workshops for women.
Mercedes Soler has worked in television for more than 20 years. She has been a radio announcer, beat reporter, international correspondent, writer, producer, documentarian, columnist, author, journalism professor and anchor of her own, live, television shows. She is also the recipient of 5 Emmys and a Peabody Award. In 2013 the Florida Chapter of Women in the Arts awarded her the Icon of the Year Award for her dedication to women´s topics.
